Hello Members,
A couple of updates for you.
- The Poker Run was held on Sunday and fortunately the weather was good to us and all went well. Participation was less than hoped for but those that attended and participated enjoyed the day and to the best of my knowledge all had a good time. Some lessons were well learned – like plan it further in advance and check on how the proposed dates fits with the intended audience…….Sme invitees were unable to attend due to prior commitments in Sydney and Brisbane, the farming community to the north are in the middle of their cotton harvest while the farmers to the west are shearing. So we will know better next time.
- The overall winner (best poker hand) was Doug Ross who flew in his Vixen and earned an $80 voucher for the Lovedale Smokehouse.
- Three participants (Alan Tindall, Joan West & Simone Delbianco) returned with a Joker in their hands and were able to claim a secondary prize.
- There was also a random draw from all of those in attendance, both participants and ground crew for a fourth minor prize that was won by Ron West.
- The minor prizes were a bottle of HV Wine and some Chocolates.
- Bonus tickets have already been added to the account of all members that attended the Poker Run, either as a participant in the game or as a helper. The help was very much appreciated.
- Gloucester Fly-in & BBQ Next weekend (November 2nd & 3rd). Take a look at the attached flyer, you will see that Paul Bennett will be using this event as practice for his upcoming “Barrington Coast Airshow” at Taree on November 9th. So let’s make this a HRFC supported event and members who attend can claim bonus tickets in the Christmas prize draw.
- Barrington Coast Airshow is on Saturday November 9th and this event has also been listed as a HRFC flyout. Therefore, bonus tickets can also be claimed for your attendance at this event. We need to support those companies (including Paul Bennet Airshows) that are supporting our club by contributing to our Christmas Prize Draw whenever it is practical to do so.
- A big thank you to those airstrips that helped on Sunday by allowing us to leave cards for collection by the Poker Run participants – A number of the pilots commented on their return that they had been made to feel very welcome and that they had met some very nice people in the process. And that is the way it should be. Thanks, Sheree Keato (Warnervale), Ron & Joan West (Gloucester), Frank Williams (Luskintyre), Mick Webster (HV Gliding Club), Peter Marheine (Yarrawa Private Strip).
- Photos attached of some of our members about to head off to collect their cards on Sunday. Thanks to John Kearney for the photos.
Enough for now.
