Hello Members,
A brief update on a few matters relating to the club.
- May Meeting: Our May meeting earlier this month was a rather informal event due primarily to very low attendance. At the scheduled start time, we didn’t have a corum due to some extent, a number of our regulars were away on the fly-out to Maralinga, others had sent apologies due to sickness. Those in attendance did discuss a number of items that were raised at the April meeting for further discussion in May.
- Proposed BBQ Fly-out to Peter Marheine’s private strip at Yarawa was discussed and it was suggested that we hold this event next Sunday (25th). However, I have held off on this one due to the poor and unpredictable weather, so it will not be happening this Sunday. I have since spoken to Peter and I have committed to speak to him regarding a new date some time after the June long weekend,
- The Working Bee to erect the fence at the eastern end of the clubhouse was discussed and it was agreed by those that were there that we should carry out this work and a few other maintenance items on Sunday 1st June. At this stage, I think that should work for us and weather permitting, it will go ahead. All of the concreting is now complete, fencing materials are on order and will be received this week. So, if you can be available to assist on the 1st, it will be very much appreciated – Many hands make light the work, or so I am told.
- The June meeting date this year falls on the long weekend. It was suggested that we bring the June meeting forward to the 1st and hold a brief meeting in conjunction with the working bee instead of the usual 2nd Sunday. Let me know if you have any thoughts on that.
- Maralinga Fly-out: Five aircraft participated and all returned home safe and sound and from all reports that I have heard, it was a great trip. Looking forward to some photos and a story to post on the website. (Hint hint).
- 2025-2026 Membership Renewals: Don’t forget that all Membership Renewals are due by June 30th. There is no increase in fees this year so Full Members $150.00, Social & Junior Members $25.00. I will send another reminder prior to the due date.
- Sponsorship: When we set up the sponsorship arrangements for our prize awards last year, the deal with the supporting organisations was that in return for their support, we (The Club) would continue to support them by promoting their business to all members and on our website until June this year. Then in June, we will carry out a review and decide whether or not to continue with the same or a similar this year. So, if you have an opinion on this or any other suggestions, please let me know so that we can make an informed decision based on what the members want.
That is it….Just let me know if you see any issues with us bringing the June meeting forward to let’s say the working bee lunch break and your thoughts on the sponsored rewards project – Do we do it again or not and if we do, what should we change?
Thanks & Regards
