HRFC Update 130824

Hello Members,

An update following our August Meeting and AGM held last Sunday.
  • 2024 AGM:
    • Little to report from the AGM, all committee positions were declared vacant while new elections were held  resulting in only one change – that of  the Vice President. Geoff Eather did not stand for reelection and was replaced by Dave Caban. Thanks go to Geoff for his support through his term in the role of Vice President.
The Committee now comprises;
    • Executive Committee
      • President – Bob Finch
      • Vice President – Dave Caban
      • Secretary – Keith McGeachie
      • Treasurer – John Arthurson
      • Public Officer – John Benson
    • Ordinary Committee
      • John Redwood
      • Ron West
      • Alan Crowe
      • John Benson (Public Officer)
      • Keith McGeachie (Safety Officer)
      • Geoff Eather (Webmaster)
  • August Monthly Meeting:  A couple of discussion points that formed most of the general business.
    • A successful cleanup working bee was carried out on Saturday to remove rubbish and tidy the area behind hangars 5 – 10 and thanks were expressed for the assistance provided by Tony Allan (Airport Coordinator) for not only providing the large skip and having the old concrete removed ahead of the working bee, but also for joining with the members and lending a much appreciated helping hand with the physical work.
    • There was a considerable discussion regarding progress with the Sponsorship Project that we have undertaken and is now in place. If you have not been keeping up with this, the basics are as follows and under separate cover we will distribute more detail of how members can benefit from it.
      • There will be about a dozen sponsors (9 already confirmed with another 2 or three to come). Sponsors are providing gift vouchers as prizes that members can win for their participation in a range of club activities and by supporting the sponsors.
      • Prizes will be divided into three groups.
        1. Minor prizes valued at about $20 – $50 each. There will be a random draw at each monthly meeting for those in attendance. We gave this one a test flight at the meeting last Sunday and Keith McGeachie walked away with a $25 voucher from Hunter Valley Chocolate Company.
        2. A  major prize where all sponsors will be represented in a single “Basket of Vouchers” estimated total value is about $1000 to be drawn before Christmas. All members have been given just one ticket so that every member will be in the draw. However, all members will have several opportunities to earn bonus tickets by supporting club sponsored activities and the sponsors. (More details will be distributed shortly).
        3. A consolation prize for the member that earns the most tickets in the major prize but does not win the main prize.
      • The club will manage the project and specify the events that will allow members to earn tickets in the major prize (More details will be distributed shortly).
      • The Club will promote the sponsors via a new sponsors webpage to be added to the club website later this week and by encouraging members to support the sponsors whenever practical.
      • The project will run through to June 30th 2025 when a review will decide whether or not to extend it in its current form or modify it.

I will be back in touch in the next few days with more details on how you can “beat the system” and maybe win big – good luck.

Enough for now.
Thanks & Regards
Bob Finch
