HRFC Update 031024

Hello Members,

A few things to keep you up to date on what the club is up to.
  • Poker Run 2024:
    • Finally we have settled on a date to re-introduce our local “Wine Country Poker Run” !!! The last poker run was way back in 2017 (before Covid-19 and airport closures got in the way) but we are back in business, and we intend to hold the next one in just over three weeks from now on October 27th. That is not too far off, so we need to spread the word and drum up some entries ASAP. I have attached a flyer, which is also available on the club’s website along with the rules of the game, and an online form for pilots to register their interest in participating. Registering ahead of time is important for a few reasons like, reducing the admin load on the day, catering needs, and most importantly making it easy to contact participants with information packs and to advise of any last minute changes etc. Here is a link to the website <https://hunterflyers.com.au>
  • Next Monthly Meeting:
    • Don’t forget the October meeting is on Sunday week, October 13th.
  • Other HRFC Supported Events:
    • I guess that the poor weather last weekend, would have thrown a spanner into the works for anyone planning to visit the “Flavors of Mudgee” festival. However, if you did manage to make it, don’t forget to claim your bonus points to increase your chances in the end of year prize draw to be held at the Christmas lunch. An online claim form can be found on the website – Go to “Sponsors” /  “Claim Tickets”, enter your name, and then in the “Sponsor 1” cell, select “Hunter Recreational Flying Club” from the drop-down box, now select the month and under “HRFC Events” choose “HRFC Fly-out” and press “Send”. While you are there, you should claim for any support that you have given to our listed sponsors. It is that easy.
    • Christmas Lunch is scheduled for December 15th at a venue still to be confirmed – That decision will be made at the next meeting.
    • The “Barrington Coast Airshow” at Taree is a Paul Bennet Airshows event, and has been nominated as a HRFC supported fly-out so bonus tickets will also be available for anyone flying to this one on Saturday November 9th. <https://barringtonairshow.com.au/>.

Well that is it for now, although we have received an update this morning from Airport Management regarding the  new RNP Approaches, so I will forward that separately.
