HRFC Update 010425

Hello Members,
Here are a few points to keep you up to date on happenings around the club:
  • CAUTION:
Construction of new hangar aprons at the western end of hangars 1 & 2 is planned to commence on Monday 7th of April. Therefore, there will be earthworks and concreting activities taking place over a period of a few days. Obviously, weather could delay the start and if so, we expect work to commence ASAP following that date.  Access to and from the western end of hanars 3 & 4 and the eastern end of hangars 5 to 8 will still be available but minor delays may be encountered,  HRFC members are asked to be patient and take particular care around the work area during the construction period as there will be a number of contractors working on the site along with machinery and concrete deliveries.
  • Club facilities upgrade:
Most members will recall that a decision was made some time ago and permission was gained from Airport Management for HRFC to erect a pool type safety fence, and to place a concrete area at the eastern end of the clubhouse for outdoor furniture. This was to be done by a club working bee during the placement of the hanar aprons at the eastern end of hangars 1, 2  & 3. However, due to delays caused by weather etc, it did not happen at that time, so we have requested and received a quote from the contractor that will be doing the aprons described above and as the price for them to supply and finish the concrete work was good and less than a thousand dollars more expensive than if we were to do the same work with voluntary labour. We have given them the go ahead to do the job while they are on site next week. We will still need to have a working bee to erect the fence and gates once the concreting is complete but as we have decided on a concrete mowing strip beneath the fence, it should be a fairly straightforward task to dynabolt the posts to the strip, and maintaining the grass edges along the fence should be so much easier.
  • Arthur Butler Aviation Museum (Tooraweenah Airshow):
I am not sure if any of our members are planning to attend the Airshow that I made reference to in a couple of previous notes but I thought that I should let you know that we have received advice that despite the Avalon accident, that involved one of Paul Bennet’s  aircraft, the show will go ahead as planned on Saturday (5th April). Proceeds from this event go to the ABAM toward the restoration of a De Havilland Dove.
  • HVGC Easter Vintage Rally 2025:
Don’t forget that we have an invitation to attend the Hunter Valley Gliding Club’s Easter Vintage Rally at Warkworth. Last year a few of us attended this event and it was a good day out. There is a poster for this year’s event attached below and please remember to be in touch with Mick if you intend to fly in – Contact details are included on the poster.
Thanks & Regards
