26th April 2021

Hello Members,

2021 May Meeting Date Change to May 16th:   As the second Sunday in May is Mother’s Day, we traditionally bring the May meeting forward to the first Sunday. However, this year, several members including our Secretary and Treasurer will be away retracing the ill fated “Kookaburra” flight of 1929. So, a decision has been made to reschedule the 2021 May meeting to the third Sunday (16th). In this way, all those that attend can be briefed on what should be a very interesting trip.

CASA AveSafety Seminar:   Don’t forget the AvSafety Seminar on Wednesday evening (May 5th) at the HRFC Clubhouse. The session commences at 6pm and is expected to run for 2 hours. There is no charge and light refreshments will be provided. CASA has asked that those that wish to attend make the effort to pre register at:

A flyer is attached to this note.

Z Car Sydney Club Visit:   HRFC has agreed to host a BBQ lunch, brunch or breakfast for the Z Car Sydney Car Club on Sunday May 30th. The Z Cars will be visiting the Hunter Valley that weekend on their annual “President’s Run” traveling to Cessnock on the Saturday and back to Sydney on the Sunday afternoon. More details will be provided once confirmation has been received.

Newcastle Vintage & Classic Car Club visit June 13th:    This visit to HRFC will occur on Sunday of the June long weekend when the group will visit the Wirraway Museum first and then to HRFC for a BBQ lunch at 1pm. This is a four yearly regional event that was rescheduled from 2020 due to Covid restrictions and is generally well supported by the Car Club members so we will be seeking volunteers to man the BBQ, serv the lunches, monitor the Covid -19 restrictions and show the visitors around some of our member’s aircraft. And, of course to check out their Vintage and Classic Toys.

NOTE: This date will clash with our June General Meeting so another meeting date change may be necessary for that meeting. I will keep members informed.

OzSTOL 2021 at Luskintyre this weekend 30th April:   Oz-STOL is on at Luskintyre Airfield with arrivals on Friday along with the usual fun. Competition day is on Saturday followed by a bonfire and live band. Departures are on Sunday. Food and coffee vans all weekend. Camping under your wing with toilets and showers available.

Something a bit different:   As an ex employee of Cummins with more than 45 years of experience, I still from time to time receive updates on what is new and what is happening from my past colleagues and friends still in the business. So when this popped up in my mail, I thought that it may be of interest to some of our HRFC Members. Take a look.
