22nd June 2020

Hello Members,
My last update before June 30th (the day that the $95 membership renewal ends). Don’t forget that if you have not renewed prior to July 1st, membership increases to $100 pa. and the other offers of staged payments will end. So, don’t leave it too late. The response this year has been great with more than half of our current membership having already renewed for the 2020 – 2021 period. Payment and Bank Details are available on the website https://hunterflyers.com.au/ or give me a call if you have any questions.

Resumption of general meetings:
Now that the Covid 19 restrictions have been eased (and assuming that they remain that way). We plan to reinstate our monthly meetings on the 2nd Sunday in July (12th). at the usual time of 11 am. This will give us one meeting ahead of the 2020 AGM which is scheduled for August 9th.

When meetings resume:
When meetings resume, it is expected that we will of course need to follow strict Covid guidelines for some time. A Covid 19 safety plan will be in place and will be distributed to all members prior to any indoor general meetings.

The AGM:
As mentioned above, the AGM will be held in August as usual but prior to that date, we ask all members to think about who they would like to lead the club for the next 12 months. I will attach a nomination form and ask that if you would like to stand for nomination or to nominate another member for any position on the committee please complete the form and submit it prior to the meeting. It is important that if you intend to make a nomination, you should discuss it with the nominee and have their agreement to accept nomination and you will need another member to second any nomination. If you have any questions, please ask. We need to elect a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Four Ordinary Committee Members – So, get the thinking caps on.

NOTE As I have been in the role of Club President for far too long, I will not be accepting nomination for that position again this year. I will still be around and willing to help where I can but for the benefit of the club (and myself), a change is well overdue.

It is the current committee’s intention to propose some minor changes to the Club’s Constitution prior to the AGM. The proposed changes include a variation to the way that overdue renewals are handled and the inclusion of a Junior membership category. If you have any suggestions for other variations, please let us know ASAP so that a submission can be distributed for review ahead of the AGM where a vote on any proposed changes will take place.

It is our normal practice to consider our membership fees and charges at each AGM. If there are to be any adjustments approved, then traditionally those amendments will come into effect on the 1st July of the following year. Again the thoughts of the membership will be appreciated – At this stage, the committee is not seeking any further increases but as there is a twelve month lag, fees do need to be considered.

Weather Cameras:
I notice that our Club’s weather cameras are currently down (probably due to weather conditions) but we will have them back up and running again just as soon as possible.

Survey Monkey:
Once back in full swing, we intend to send out a Survey Monkey to all members asking for input concerning club activities that you would like to see introduced so keep an eye on your inbox and in the meantime, you may like to give it some thought.

Well that is about it for now and please continue to use the website and where possible encourage others to do the same.

Thanks & Regards
Bob Finch
